About Our Head Instructor

Rick is a decorated, 10-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, with multiple worldwide deployments in support of U.S. global military operations. He served with elements of foreign militaries from 22 different nations, receiving training in combat arms, survival, weapons, cold weather operations, amphibious operations, air/ground coordination, and nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare. He has also served on the Texas Border supporting efforts to slow the flow of illegal aliens and protecting private property from theft and vandalism. With over 1,000 hours of formal, personal weapons skills training, weapons instructor training, and countless hours teaching, few instructors ever attain the level of experience, knowledge, and skill Rick has developed over many years.

Among the several certifications he holds, he is instructor certified by both the NRA and USCCA, a student of the Tactical Hyve Pistol Instructor Course, and is a certified Texas LTC Instructor. He never stops in his own personal training, relentlessly pursuing mastery and perfection in instruction techniques and new methods of training.
As Director of Viking Tactical, Rick has developed our very successful curriculum in basic, intermediate, and advanced carbine/pistol courses, low light shooting course, defensive pistol, home defense, concealed carry, and CQB training. Each of these courses will be offered as our schedule allows. In addition to the above, Rick is very involved in public safety/education efforts and regularly presents classes covering Traumatic Casualty Care, Stop The Bleed, Land Navigation, Emergency/Disaster Preparation and Response, Survival, and Ham Radio Communications (Extra Class License holder).
Viking Tactical also has a very skilled and accomplished cadre of 10 instructors made up of former military, law enforcement , private security contractors, and competitive shooters.
